REDYSIGN attended this key event in the paper sector, participating alongside TECNALIA and using the platform to connect with key stakeholders in the industrial community.
SPAPER made its return to Zaragoza, Spain, solidifying its position as one of the leading events in the pulp, paper, and cardboard industry. Held from March 4th to 6th, 2025, the fair attracted professionals, manufacturers, and companies from across Spain and Europe. Over the course of the three-day event, the REDYSIGN project played an active role in the Technical Forum, with Dr. Álvaro Tejado, the project’s principal coordinator, representing the initiative.
The 4th International Exhibition of Machinery and Equipment for Pulp, Paper, and Cardboard covered the entire value chain of paper production, from raw material sourcing and processing to the sustainable management of waste. This year, 140 brands from 18 countries showcased the latest innovations, trends, and technical solutions that are shaping the future of the paper industry.
REDYSIGN at SPAPER 2025
Organized by Feria de Zaragoza, the 2025 edition of SPAPER took place at Pavilion 3 of the fairgrounds. The event featured an extensive technical programme, including specialised conferences, roundtables, and networking events. The event’s first day focused on addressing the main challenges facing the sector, such as the rise of artificial intelligence and the new packaging regulations, along with their industry implications.
On the second day, the spotlight turned to REDYSIGN, with the Technical Paper Forum of the Basque Country Cluster taking place within the fair. The forum covered successful cases in the implementation of new technologies, process diversification, and improvements. As part of the forum’s broad programme of presentations, Dr. Álvaro Tejado, Principal Researcher at Tecnalia, delivered a talk titled “Towards the future of the paper sector: development of the components of a Recyclable Smart Packaging for the packing and distribution of fresh meat, exploiting the potential of wood constituents through resource-efficient processes”.

It not only showcases our collaborative effort in developing a recyclable smart packaging but also fosters new collaborations and contributes driving the industry towards a more sustainable and resource-efficient future”, stated Dr. Tejado.
The final day featured commercial presentations from the exhibitors, providing attendees with the opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the latest advancements in cellulose processing, paper manufacturing, packaging solutions, and recycling technologies.
